A global consultancy with a sustainable, net-zero approach to design and construction is looking for a Principal Sustainability Consultant to join their London office.

Working alongside a talented team of sustainability experts and engineers, you will have the opportunity to lead high-profile, challenging projects across the EMEA.

* A global multi-disciplinary practice that delivers sustainably led projects
* Working directly with Tier 1 architects and clients on projects across a variety of sectors
* A sustainability team of around 20 heads offering plenty of support and progression

Large master planning projects, stadiums, airports & transport hubs, large commercial offices and key public projects are the type of architecture that you will be working on. Having a vital input on complex design work across all stages offers you and your team to innovate challenging solutions and drive sustainability standards across these projects and the wider industry.

Key Responsibilities
* Demonstrate specialist knowledge in embodied carbon, environmental impact of materials, and circular economy
* Have expertise and experience in carrying out lifecycle embodied carbon analyses (LCA), and develop circular economy strategies with a focus on driving optimal low-carbon design over whole lifecycle
* Have a proven track record of providing consultancy, setting targets, and advising project teams with ambitious low-carbon design goals on embodied carbon and circular economy
* Be an expert on standard and best practice on embodied carbon and circular economy, including intimate familiarity with RICS professional statements, London planning requirements, and relevant standards and guidance from other industry bodies such as CIBSE, IStructE, CWCT, UKGBC, LETI, and RIBA
* Be an expert in use of relevant software such as OneClickLCA (preferred) or other similar tools (e.g. eTool, Panda, etc.)
* Coordinate inputs to and outputs from complex calculations in a consistent, verifiable, and replicable manner
* Critically review embodied carbon and circular economy related deliverables developed by others
* Develop and standardise new methods and tools to improve the quality and effectiveness of embodied carbon and circular economy workstreams and further our leading-edge position in the industry
* Be knowledgeable about relevant requirements in sustainability benchmarking systems such as BREEAM, LEED and Living Building Challenge
* Liaise with client, architect, and members of the internal and external team with clarity and confidence
* Maintain overview on project status, progress of works against scope, and project budget
* Communicate embodied carbon and circular economy knowledge clearly and concisely to internal and external clients and peers with little or no specialist knowledge on the subject.
