Head of Drama | Wandsworth, SW17 | Permanent Contract | Starting September 2025

A thriving secondary school in Wandsworth, London, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Head of Drama to join its creative arts faculty. This teacher must have Qualified Teacher Status, (QTS). This permanent role is starting in September 2025, and you will be working across Key stages 3, 4 and 5. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a well-established and highly respected department. The successful candidate will shape strategic direction, uphold high academic and creative standards and continue developing an engaging curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of curriculum, ensuring alignment with national guidelines and the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Manage and motivate teaching teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Support teachers' professional development with subject-specific guidance, resources, and coaching.
  • Fulfil general teaching duties in line with the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document and Staff Code of Conduct.
  • Implement and uphold whole school, cluster, and year group policies.
  • Actively participate in scheduled meetings with colleagues and parents, as outlined in the school calendar.
  • Contribute to school life through break duties, class cover, and involvement in cross-curricular teams.
  • Effectively use Microsoft Teams to support teaching, communication, and pastoral responsibilities.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Holds QTS and a good relevant degree.
  • Sound subject knowledge with clear evidence of the ability to develop schemes of work and lead the curriculum area
  • Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and passion for Performing Arts.
  • Enthusiastic subject leader who is well organised, conscientious and flexible
  • Ability to teach drama at A Level.
