Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a leading UK Independent Infrastructure and Property Consultancy specialise in Environmental, Planning and Sustainability.

As Associate Director in the Infrastructure Projects and Programmes team, you'll play a central role in shaping energy projects with responsibility for project delivery, business development, and strategic growth in the energy sector.

You will guide the planning and consent processes (DCOs, EIAs, and more), support key infrastructure initiatives, and build lasting client relationships. You'll be expected to bring sound judgement, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple high-profile projects from inception through to completion. Experience across other infrastructure sectors is welcome, but not required.

We're looking for someone who thrives in dynamic, complex environments. Someone who can lead teams, influence outcomes, and contribute to long-term strategy-particularly in driving the energy agenda forward.

What you'll bring:

  • A minimum of 10 years' relevant experience, including energy planning.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and manage clients.
  • In-depth understanding of planning and consent processes in the energy sector.
  • Degree qualified; chartered or working towards chartership.
  • Experience contributing to business planning and sector strategy.
  • A strong grasp of environmental and sustainability issues.
