Bio-medical Engineer Contractor

Location: Hammersmith Hospital

Duration: 12 months

Rate: Negotiable

Purpose of the Role

To provide on-site support for the maintenance, repair, and management of medical devices. The role ensures equipment reliability, compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and contributes to high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a wide range of medical equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Support contractual KPIs by collaborating with team leaders and account managers.
  • Maintain accurate service records and complete all administrative tasks using relevant CMMS tool.
  • Communicate effectively with hospital staff and stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of issues and follow-up.
  • Assist the wider engineering team in achieving local and global service goals.
  • Maintain safe working practices and comply with local Health & Safety regulations.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure tools/test equipment are maintained to required standards.
  • Travel to other healthcare sites as needed to support service delivery.
  • Participate in meetings with OEM service staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to relevant quality management systems, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a biomedical engineering or similar technical role.
  • Familiarity with national regulatory standards for medical devices.
  • Experience working in clinical environments, ideally with direct patient or staff interaction.
  • Exposure to a broad range of medical devices and technologies.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong customer relationship and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Good working knowledge of IT systems, including Microsoft Office and asset management tools.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet service goals.
