Overview:

We are excited to present an excellent opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join the Microbiology Department at a renowned private healthcare organisation in the heart of Central London. Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine and specialist diagnostic microbiology tests, including bacteriology, virology, parasitology, and mycology.

  • Process a wide variety of clinical samples accurately and efficiently.

  • Operate and maintain a range of microbiological laboratory equipment after competency training.

  • Participate actively in internal and external quality assurance schemes.

  • Support stock control, equipment evaluations, and method development initiatives.

  • Adhere to laboratory policies, procedures, and UKAS accreditation requirements.

  • Work collaboratively with senior biomedical scientists and multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements:
  • HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist (Microbiology discipline).

  • Demonstrable post-registration experience in a UKAS-accredited Microbiology laboratory.

  • Strong technical skills in clinical bacteriology, virology, or related disciplines.

  • Experience using LIMS systems and handling sensitive patient data.

  • Committed to teamwork, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

Working Hours & Contract Duration:
  • Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

  • Initially core hours (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM), moving to a 24/7 rota once competencies are signed off.

  • Initial contract duration of 3 months, with strong potential for extension depending on performance.
