Publishing Assistant - Non-Fiction Books

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a high-growth publishing team at the intersection of music, storytelling and culture, building out a new model of artist-led publishing across trade non-fiction.  As the team expands, they are looking for an experienced Publishing Assistant to play a vital role in supporting and delivering high-impact publishing campaigns across their growing books portfolio.

This is a fast-paced, commercial role, suited to someone who has experience within trade book publishing, who’s confident and has experience of the publishing lifecycle, from editorial, production, marketing, through to metadata, and campaign delivery.

You’ll be hands-on from day one; supporting multiple projects, managing key operational workflows, and liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders (from artist management to publishing partners).

What you’ll be doing:

Assisting on the delivery of multiple publishing projects from concept to launch Creating, managing and updating metadata, AI sheets and key marketing assets Supporting campaign planning and delivery in collaboration with labels and internal marketing teams Coordinating reprints, stock splits and production timelines with third-party partners Producing pitch decks, sales presentations and internal reports Proofing, editing and copywriting as required across multiple formats Providing commercial insight and research to support future publishing opportunities

Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for a highly motivated and confident individual with proven experience of working in a trade non-fiction book publishing environment, with knowledge of the end-to-end book publishing process. You should be comfortable working in a lean, agile environment, working in an early-stage start-up or high growth business. You will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing sometimes tight deadlines. Great communication skills and confidence when dealing with people both internally and externally are a must for this role, as are excellent relationship-building skills. You will have solid IT skills and confident using data and reporting tools to inform decision-making.  You are both organised and an organiser and detail-driven, comfortable with metadata management, creating AI sheets and marketing assets. A curiosity, openness and willingness to learn are essential qualities for this role.

This is a brilliant opportunity to gain broad, hands-on experience across every stage of the publishing process—within a creative, fast-moving division of one of the world’s most influential media companies. You’ll be part of a growing, entrepreneurial team with strong senior leadership and a clear vision for scaling artist-first publishing.
