About the Role:As a Maintenance Operative, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring the student residence is kept in excellent condition, both inside and out. You’ll be responsible for a broad range of maintenance tasks, from routine repairs and preventative maintenance to supporting health & safety compliance.
You will be a visible and approachable presence on site, helping to resolve maintenance issues efficiently and maintaining high standards throughout the property.
Key Responsibilities:-
Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks including plumbing, basic electrics, painting & decorating, joinery, and minor repairs

Responding to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner

Conducting regular inspections of communal areas, plant rooms, and student rooms

Supporting compliance with health & safety legislation, including fire safety checks and water hygiene

Liaising with contractors and suppliers when required

Keeping maintenance records and logging completed work accurately

Supporting move-in/move-out periods, ensuring rooms and common areas are clean, safe and functional

Previous experience in a similar maintenance role, ideally within residential or hospitality environments

A good level of general building maintenance knowledge

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Friendly, professional, and committed to delivering a high standard of service

Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Flexible and able to respond to occasional out-of-hours emergencies

A relevant qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or NVQ in a maintenance-related trade) is desirable but not essential

Basic IT literacy to use logging and reporting systems
