Business Analyst

450 - 500 per day via Ltd

Hybrid role 1- 2 days in the office

London based

6 month contract to start ASAP

To provide business analysis support to the 'research security compliance and risk’ within the'Research Innovation Operations’ change portfolio. This will include working on the following initiatives:

  • Foreign Influence Registration Scheme implementation
  • Due Diligence processes and escalation
  • Cybersecurity and research security risk mapping and mitigation
  • Business case for the programme of work
  • Controls relating to inbound/outbound staff, students, honorary and visiting researchers
  • Final implementation stages of ethics

Project Assignments

  • In due course, support business case definition - provide information about a target business service and proposed change initiative for use in construction of a business case.
  • Work with key stakeholders and the project team to fully understand the project scope and objectives.
  • Advise on the most suitable methods and levels of analysis, and level of stakeholder engagement required.
  • Provide input into the overall project plan owned by the project manager.

Elicit, Document, Manage Business Requirements

  • Based on the preferred design model and agreed project approach, work with key stakeholders to define business requirements.

Support the design of future 'to-be’ processes, models and solutions

  • Work closely with the project team, including solutions architects and technical leads, as well as the service users, to support design, delivery and testing phases of the project.

Maintain an operational work plan

  • Supporting multiple project initiatives, maintaining a plan of current work commitments. In conjunction with the task manager, use this to assess the capacity to undertake incoming analysis assignments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the application of modern technology to meet business needs -particularly those technologies
  • Attend relevant events related to business analysis to increase knowledge and proactively maintain networks with other professionals in the area.

Qualifications, experience and knowledge

Experience working as a business analyst within a project environment, particularly service and process improvements (as opposed to primarily IT enabled change).

Understanding of the full project delivery life cycle and experience of delivery across different phases of the project

Experience in workshop facilitation and conducting stakeholder interviews to extract relevant information

Experience in managing own time effectively in an environment of competing end-user demands and time-critical schedules, prioritising simultaneous project work and rapidly evaluating alternate action plans

Holder of professional qualification (e.g. BCS / ISEB Diploma: Business Analysis)

Experience in working within a Higher Education institution / Government and or on process or service improvement projects

Experience of working on procurement projects, translating requirements into procurement questions and supporting supplier evaluations

Skills and abilities

Experience of applying various techniques and delivering analysis outputs, including:

- Requirements elicitation and documentation

- Business process modelling

- Workflow / scenario / use case modelling

- Data and system analysis and documentation

Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly define and articulate business process concepts to the end users and communicate with colleagues at all levels within the organisation

Good presentation skills
