They empower residents to actively participate in policy development, believing that community-led initiatives can drive faster and better improvements.Role Description:The Development team is responsible for delivering complex projects, new housing, and community assets, while generating income streams. As the Senior Development Manager, you'll lead projects from planning to completion, deputise for the Head of Development, and provide advice to Development Managers.About the Role:You'll act as the lead client on complex projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard. Your role involves creating new housing, schools, and community facilities, and developing options for Council site regeneration. You'll procure projects with a focus on design, innovation, and sustainability, and manage project teams to ensure compliance with procedures.Overseeing projects through the planning process, you'll advise on procurement and delivery of new builds, manage budgets and project programmes, and conduct site inspections to maintain quality standards. You'll also ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are upheld, lead project risk management, and manage client expectations and relations.In addition, you'll prepare and present project plans and reports, motivate the project team, and ensure defect-free project handover. Compliance with performance targets and funding requirements is crucial, as is leading project recovery strategies and liaising with other Council departments. You'll supervise resident consultations; performance manage and report on project milestones and oversee financial modelling and gateway processes.
  • Drafting corporate policy papers and matrix managing project teams are also part of your responsibilities.
  • You'll line manage team members, maximise benefits from land redevelopment, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Effective liaison with residents, members, schools, and community groups is essential, as is developing partnerships and empowering colleagues.
  • You'll identify and respond to growth opportunities, work flexibly, and manage tight deadlines, including visiting building sites as needed.
About You:You should demonstrate a commitment to Council policies on Equal Opportunity and Customer Care.
