We are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead our School of Business and Management’s initiatives. This role is crucial for enhancing the student experience, improving recruitment, and contributing to the School’s standing in national league tables. The successful candidate will provide expert leadership in expanding the School’s management education offerings to external partners and clients, and will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships to diversify income sources and impact.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with internal and external organisations and agencies to support business growth and diversification.
  • Serve as the main point of contact and manage key relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Line manage the Business Development Team to lead and implement business development projects.
  • Liaise at a senior level and take high-level responsibility for business-critical partnerships, particularly in education initiatives.
  • Ensure that partnerships are mutually beneficial and align with the School’s educational objectives.
  • Identify risks in the delivery of business development initiatives and develop processes to mitigate those risks.
  • Lead the continuation and development of SBM Apprenticeship education initiatives, ensuring client requirements are met and contractual engagements are fulfilled.
  • Oversee end-to-end engagement including client consultation, programme design, learner attraction, on-boarding, delivery, audit, evaluation, and quality control.
  • Lead on client-based consultation and future employer-related modules, serving as the principal contact for employer management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in business development within an educational or professional training context.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing teams and projects.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to identify opportunities for growth and risk mitigation.
  • Experience in designing and delivering educational programmes, particularly apprenticeships.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
