We're supporting a HE Institutions based in Birmingham in their search for a Course Director in Business Management to oversee the teaching, curriculum development, and delivery of the course. This role is crucial for managing the course, academic staff, and students, ensuring that the curriculum and assessments are up-to-date and meet the needs of our students for successful progression.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage the performance and quality of the designated course by monitoring key information and metrics, including student feedback.
  • Lead course team meetings, course committee meetings, and prepare for examination boards.
  • Undertake general course management responsibilities such as lesson planning, teaching, curriculum development, assessment design, and administration.
  • Ensure effective course delivery and administration through collaboration with colleagues on recruitment, admissions, timetabling, and induction.
  • Maintain strong links with related industries and professional bodies to stay updated with the latest developments in the subject area.
  • Manage the course across different modes of delivery, including evening and weekend sessions, with support from separate staff.
  • Support the engagement and retention of students to ensure their progression and attainment on the degree course.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Relevant BA and postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Fellowship (or higher) of the Higher Education Academy is desirable.
  • PhD or higher-level research degree is preferred.
  • Experience in teaching & assessment in a Higher Education environment.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing education including people, curriculum, quality & standards, and student recruitment.
  • Demonstrable ability to design and deliver a degree-level course.
  • Effective planning and management of workload.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to motivate staff and students collaboratively and respectfully.
