Rate: £29 + 16.59% holiday PAYE or £39.28 umbrella

Ongoing contract

JOB PURPOSE:

1.1       To manufacture and install timber finished goods of the right quality, quantity and by the customers required delivery dates.

2.               KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

2.1            Make, modify or repair timber components.

2.2              Install manufactured timber items on site as required.

2.3            Use and/or operate a range of hand, power and machine tools within one trade or discipline, e.g. Hand and power saws, drills, planers, routers.

2.4            Drive Workshops vehicles to and from outlying work sites as may be required.

2.5            Assist other staff in the production for work as required.

2.6            Complete all paperwork and reports as required.

2.7            Ensure that the work area and all plant and equipment are maintained in a clean, tidy and safe condition.

2.8              Lay out for drilling and cutting.

2.9              Identify different types of materials used, specify their uses and limitations.

2.10          Machine woods and other materials using appropriate wood mill machinery.

2.11         Assemble wooden/other materials components both in the shop and on site using appropriate fixing method to specification.

2.12         To manufacture woodworking joints to specification.

 

3.               KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

3.1            Served an appropriate apprenticeship and/or have the technical knowledge and relevant production skills to operate a range of hand, power and machine tools to manufacture items to a high standard from drawings or specifications.

3.2            The  ability  to  read,  understand  and  comply  with  Engineering  drawings, patterns and templates.

 

3.3            The ability to carry out workshop calculations.

3.4            Ability to understand and specify fixing e.g. glues to meet specification in terms of safety and quality.

3.5            The ability to re-sharpen tools.

3.6            The ability to varnish, paint or shellac finished components to specification.

3.7            The ability to safely mix and apply process solutions.

3.8            The ability to use overhead cranes and mechanical handling equipment.

3.9            The ability to operate mobile plant safely e.g. for lighting and power tools.

3.10         The ability to work safely at heights.

3.11         The ability to safely erect site lighting.

3.12         The ability to familiarise other employees in job or product requirements.

3.13         The ability to carry out general housekeeping without direction.
