Kitchen Manager at The Lewis Club / Riverside Gaff in Lewisham Hospital (in Partnership with the NHS)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Kitchen Manager with hospitality experience to join our new café kitchen at Lewisham Hospital. Youll oversee daily operations, select, train, and develop kitchen colleagues to ensure we deliver delicious food that keeps our customers happy, satisfied, and coming back for more. You will be responsible for keeping the menu options fresh and new and wanting the regular staff wanting to come back for more. Also ensure not only the menu is changing but in line with our values of simple delicious and affordable !!

As a Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for managing coatings, stock levels, food storage and preparation, all while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Your experience in a busy environment will help you become a café menu expert, eager to share your knowledge with your team. From health and safety to minimising food waste, youll understand the importance of every detail and inspire your team to deliver outstanding food quality and fast service. And ensuring the business thrives by being able to manage the costings.

With your previous supervisory experience, you will demonstrate strong leadership and people management skills, fostering an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels respected, safe, and valued. In doing so, youll develop your skills and experience as part of our friendly family team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Introduce new ideas to the menu.
  • Manage costings.
  • Manage food stocks, ordering, storage, and preparation in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Oversee the kitchen operations, including routines, processes, change implementation, and gross profit.
  • Select, train, and develop back-of-house colleagues to deliver timely, delicious food to customers. Identify new and improved ways of working to enhance services for customers and colleagues.
  • Ensure all training, health and safety, and food safety requirements are met.
  • Understand key drivers of our service plan and deliver to the required standards.
  • Step up to oversee the full café operation in the absence of the Café Manager.
Key Requirements:
  • Background in hospitality at a minimum supervisory level.
  • People management skills that inspire and coach in an inclusive manner.
  • Ability to remain productive in a high-pressure environment.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Desire to create an inclusive work environment where colleagues feel respected, safe, and valued. Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Confidence to use your initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement or adapting to different situations.
  • Excellent communication skills to motivate and support a growing team and collaborate closely with the Café Manager.
