Sous Chef - New Opening

As Sous Chef, youll be the right hand to the Head Chef, helping to manage all aspects of kitchen operations. Youll play a vital role in maintaining the restaurants high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation, while helping to inspire and develop the kitchen brigade. This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role suited to someone with creativity, precision, and a passion for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Support the Head Chef in leading, training, and motivating the kitchen team.
  • Supervise daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
  • Lead by example, fostering a positive, respectful, and professional kitchen culture.
  • Step up to run service or manage the kitchen in the Head Chefs absence.
  • Ensure all dishes meet the restaurants exacting standards for flavour, presentation, and consistency.
  • Assist in the creation and development of seasonal menus and daily specials.
  • Maintain excellent product knowledge and attention to detail in every service.
  • Uphold a strong focus on quality control, freshness, and technique.

Operations & Compliance

  • Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships efficiently.
  • Help monitor and achieve target food costs and kitchen budgets.
  • Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen standards.
  • Oversee kitchen cleanliness, organisation, and maintenance.
  • Work closely with the front-of-house and management teams to ensure seamless communication and service flow.
  • Contribute ideas for menu development, events, and kitchen improvements.
  • Represent the restaurants ethos and passion for hospitality in all aspects of the role.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high-end or award-winning restaurant.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent culinary and technical knowledge, with an eye for detail and innovation.
  • Sound understanding of kitchen management, costing, and compliance.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure during busy services.
