A high-level graduate (BSc, MSc) of Chemistry with an interest or experience in organic OR synthetic chemistry for a global company. With (preferably) industrial experience you will embark on activities including laboratory testing, analytical and technical support to the team, collaborating to develop and deploy strategic capabilities to enable the development of next generation of products. The technical innovation team works closely with the New Business Development Team as well as support functions such as IP law and the Regulatory team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, recommend and execute experimental programmes as part of an innovation team with support from supervisor
  • Design, recommend and develop testing methodology using test expertise
  • Participate in project / activity teams and present results and conclusions of the work
  • Liaise with external service providers to ensure analytical, bench and testing are delivered to a high-quality standard and against established timelines
  • Potential in the future for synthetic work and analysis of target molecules
  • Participation in technology development associated with new business diversification
  • Participation in technology development for
  • Opportunities to plan, lead and carry out discrete work elements
  • Opportunities to broaden network and collaborate both inside and outside of the company
  • Understanding of how new technologies and knowledge are translated from lab to commercial operations
  • An understanding of project planning and reporting as well as the business context behind new projects
  • Enhanced problem solving, collaboration and influencing skills

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Process chemistry, Industrial chemistry, Synthetic chemistry or Materials Science or polymer science.
  • Preferably experience outside of degree in placement year or after graduating in the synthetic /organic and/ analytical or polymer fields).
  • Strong technical competencies with an aptitude for practical laboratory and organic synthesis: experience in analytical chemistry techniques would be an advantage
  • Diligence to accurately manage test results, technical information, and lab records, combined with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations
  • Strong commitment to HSE and quality values together with hands on experience of safe, rigorous delivery in a lab environment
  • Strong sense of urgency and able to drive work forward to meet targets and timelines
  • Capable of drawing technically sound conclusions from data, summarise, document and present results clearly on their work
  • Competent user of data analysis packages and word processing software
