Baltic Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a leading distributor of plastic piping, valves and fittings with their search for an experienced Business Development Manager to cover the southern region.

Overall Purpose:

  • The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong client relationships, and driving growth and profitability.
  • The BDM works closely with the sales, marketing, and product development teams to align strategies and deliver solutions that meet market needs.
  • The Business Development Team is responsible for growing the business and extending the reach of our products & services in order to increase revenue within a particular geographic area, contributing to the wider company sales target.
  • Deal with customer and prospect enquiries; demonstrating technical knowledge and expertise to be able to present the functionality of products in some detail.

Key Duties:

Manage Sales Activity within a geographic area:

  • Achieve growth in line with company objectives.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities.
  • Analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.

Business Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic business development plans.
  • Set short and long-term business goals in alignment with company objectives.

Lead Generation and Prospecting:

  • Identify and pursue new business leads and prospects.
  • Develop a pipeline of potential clients through various channels (e.g., networking, referrals, cold calling).
  • Develop a 'project funnel', working with consultants to identify specification opportunities to continuously grow the business and generate sales.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships.
  • Understand client needs and propose solutions that meet their requirements.

Sales and Negotiation:

  • Present business proposals to potential clients.
  • Negotiate terms and close deals to achieve sales targets.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with sales, marketing, and product development manager to ensure alignment.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions to clients.

Reporting and Performance Monitoring:

  • Utilise IT systems for sales tracking and reporting
  • Prepare regular reports on business development activities and results.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in technical selling ideally in a related field(plastic piping, valves, fittings etc) with the ability to sell ideas, products & services.
  • Proven experience in a Sales/Business Development role with an ability to use consultative selling approach and develop long term relationships.
  • Successful track record of achieving targets.
  • Experience using CRM & IT Systems.
