Responsible Individual - Children’s Residential ServicesLocation: Finchley, LondonSalary: From £60,000 per annumContract Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are currently seeking a highly experienced and motivated Responsible Individual to join a well-established and respected children’s residential care organisation based in Finchley, London. This is a pivotal leadership role, providing strategic support to the Managing Director and ensuring excellence across the organisation’s Residential and Semi-Independent provisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective leadership and oversight to Registered Managers and Homes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care that promotes positive outcomes for children and young people.

  • Lead and oversee the decision-making process around referrals and placements across all services, ensuring appropriate matching and risk assessments.

  • Ensure all provisions consistently meet or exceed Ofsted's "Good" rating, maintaining compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, SCCIF, and all relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and structured supervisions with Registered Managers, identifying training needs, supporting professional development, and driving continuous improvement.

  • Provide regular, structured reports to the Managing Director regarding each home’s performance, regulatory compliance, and adherence to its Statement of Purpose.

  • Monitor and support the completion of Regulation 44 and 45 processes, ensuring robust quality assurance and continuous service development.

  • Participate in the strategic development and expansion of the organisation’s services, contributing to new projects, initiatives, and service growth plans.

  • Support recruitment, selection, and induction of staff, ensuring HR practices are compliant with employment law and sector regulations, including disciplinary, grievance, and capability procedures.

Requirements:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare - Essential

  • Strong track record of successful management within children’s residential services - Essential

  • In-depth understanding of Ofsted requirements, compliance, and regulatory standards

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor Registered Managers across multiple provisions

  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills

  • Full UK Driving Licence - Essential
