About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to take full ownership of mechanical services across key projects. Working in close partnership with the Electrical Project Manager and wider delivery teams, the role involves leading projects from inception to completion — ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, and client satisfaction while aligning with the business’s sustainability and digital engineering strategies.

Key Responsibilities

General Management

Provide leadership, supervision, and support for all mechanical project operations.

Implement company policies and operational goals within allocated projects.

Customer Service

Maintain excellent customer service standards.

Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and identify new opportunities.

Standards & Compliance

Ensure all mechanical installations comply with current legislation, company procedures, and recognised industry standards.

Collaborate with technical and compliance support teams as required.

Operational Delivery

Plan workloads, allocate resources, and manage labour and material procurement to meet deadlines.

Oversee operational programmes and monitor project progress on a daily and weekly basis.

Manage subcontractor appointments, site setups, and offsite assembly requirements.

Review project designs and specifications, ensuring compliance and appropriateness.

Monitor project sequencing, risk management, and health and safety standards.

Represent the business at client, consultant, and subcontractor meetings.

Commercial Management

Monitor financial performance in collaboration with the Quantity Surveyor.

Manage sub-contract packages, procurement schedules, and final account processes.

Prepare and review financial reports, resolving issues proactively.

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

Ensure that health, safety, and welfare standards on-site meet company policy and statutory requirements.

Lead safety initiatives and compliance processes, maintaining all related documentation.

Support incident and accident investigations and implement corrective actions where necessary.

People Leadership

Motivate, direct, and manage site teams and subcontractors.

Promote an inclusive, collaborative, and safety-conscious working environment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical expertise in mechanical building services.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.

  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.

  • Commercial awareness and strong project planning capabilities.

  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with digital project management tools and BIM processes (preferred).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
  • Demonstrable experience managing mechanical services within large-scale M&E projects.
  • SMSTS and CSCS Black/Platinum card (preferred).
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification (desirable).
  • Experience within BIM-compliant and offsite construction environments would be an advantage.
