The role

As Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take a lead role in the delivery of mechanical design solutions across a range of building services projects. You will be responsible for technical leadership, design management, and coordination, as well as supporting the development of junior engineers within the team.

Key responsibilities include

Leading the mechanical design process across commercial, residential, educational, and data centre projects.
Managing and coordinating design activities from concept through to completion.
Ensuring design quality and compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and client requirements.
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to project and design engineers.
Contributing to project planning, resource management, and delivery timelines.
Liaising effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.

About you

The successful candidate will be an experienced and driven mechanical design engineer with a proven track record in building services consultancy environments.
You will demonstrate strong technical capability, project leadership skills, and a collaborative approach to design and delivery.

Essential skills and experience

Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards Chartership.
Significant experience in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects.
Comprehensive understanding of UK Building Regulations, standards, and sustainable design practices.
Excellent communication, coordination, and client engagement skills.
Experience in leading multidisciplinary design teams.
