Key responsibilities for the Interim Commercial Manager role:
- Lead the development and delivery of a commercial strategy across public protection and enforcement services.
- Identify and implement innovative, income-generating services and products.
- Grow service revenue to exceed £1.5 million in annual income.
- Build and manage strategic partnerships with public, private, and third-sector organisations.
- Oversee pricing, contract development, and commercial performance.
- Drive marketing and communication strategies to promote services.
- Embed commercial thinking and skills across teams and services.
- Monitor market trends, develop business cases, and maximise funding opportunities.
- Ensure services align with governance, compliance, and performance standards.
- Represent the council in stakeholder, community, and political settings.
Profile
A successful Interim Commercial Manager should have:
- Technical knowledge and in-depth understanding of commercial strategy development and delivery planning within a public sector context.
- Significant experience in a commercial, income-generation, or business development role, preferably in or in partnership with the public sector.
- Excellent stakeholder and partnership-building skills
- Strategic thinker with the drive to deliver meaningful results
