Head of Commercial

A Head of Commercial role has opened with a specialist high-end fit-out and refurbishment contractor. Known for delivering exceptional interior spaces across commercial, residential, and hospitality sectors, a turnover of £25M, and an expanding pipeline of landmark projects across London and Manchester, they’re looking for a strategic leader to head up our commercial team.

Based in their Central London Head Office, you will lead a growing team of Quantity Surveyors across multiple live and upcoming schemes. Reporting directly to the board, you’ll be responsible for the commercial strategy, cost planning, procurement, contract management, and ensuring commercial performance across all projects.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the commercial strategy across multiple projects in London and Manchester
• Oversee and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers
• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
• Advise on procurement strategy and manage subcontractor negotiations
• Review and manage contracts, variations, and change orders
• Monitor costs and ensure alignment with project targets
• Support the delivery team with commercial guidance and strategic input
• Lead risk assessments and implement effective mitigation plans
• Report to the board with accurate commercial updates and performance reviews
• Drive value engineering and cost-efficiency across all phases of the project lifecycle
• Foster a culture of high performance, learning, and collaboration within the commercial team

Qualifications & Experience:
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
• Minimum 10 years’ experience, with proven leadership in a senior commercial role
• Extensive background in fit-out/refurbishment within the UK construction sector
• Strong contractual and financial acumen, with a track record of leading successful project delivery
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
• Ideally MRICS chartered (not essential)
