About the Role
Based in London, the Senior Design Manager will oversee the design phase of major commercial or residential projects, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and alignment with the clients commitment to quality. Reporting to the Project Director, the successful candidate will drive collaboration between architects, engineers, and subcontractors, delivering projects that meet stringent timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design management process from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with planning, building regulations, and client specifications.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, including architects, structural engineers, and MEP specialists, to deliver integrated solutions.
- Manage design risk, value engineering, and change control for projects valued up to £200m
- Ensure adherence to sustainability standards (e.g., BREEAM, WELL) and modern construction methods (e.g., BIM, DfMA).
- Liaise with stakeholders, including clients, local authorities, and supply chain partners, to maintain project alignment.
- Drive innovation in design delivery, contributing to the clients reputation for excellence.
Candidate Profile
URecruit seeks a seasoned professional with a proven track record in design management for large-scale commercial or residential projects. The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management (or equivalent).
- 7+ years of design management experience, with at least 3 years on projects valued £100M+.
- Expertise in commercial or residential sectors, with knowledge of Londons planning and regulatory landscape.
- Proficiency in BIM (Revit, Navisworks) and design software, ensuring seamless integration with project teams.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing diverse stakeholders.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., RIBA, RICS, CIOB) is highly desirable.
- A passion for delivering sustainable, high-quality developments that redefine urban environments.
