Senior Project Manager – Capital Projects?? Location: West London?? Contract: 6–9 Months (Inside IR35)?? Day Rate: £450.00 – £550.00 (Umbrella)�? Sector: Local Authority – Residential, Commercial & Regeneration ProjectsAn opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex capital projects for a local authority in West London. You’ll be managing major construction and refurbishment schemes that are central to the borough’s regeneration and service transformation ambitions.This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who’s confident overseeing high-value, multi-phase developments—ensuring they’re delivered to a high standard, on time and on budget.The RoleYou’ll be responsible for end-to-end project delivery, working with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors to ensure successful outcomes. Projects will vary in scale and complexity but will all have one thing in common: delivering long-lasting benefit to local communities.Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing the full lifecycle of major construction and refurbishment projects
  • Leading project teams and consultants to deliver high-quality, value-for-money results
  • Overseeing procurement, contract management and performance monitoring
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory and council requirements
  • Reporting to senior stakeholders and deputising for the Programme Director when needed
  • Managing risks, budgets, and stakeholder relationships effectively
  • Ensuring appropriate community engagement and consultation throughout
  • Leading delivery of key contracts from early design through to handover
  • Supporting wider capital delivery programmes as required
What We’re Looking ForYou’ll need to be a confident project leader with strong experience managing large-scale capital projects—ideally within a local authority or public sector setting.We're looking for someone who can bring:
  • A relevant degree (e.g. construction, engineering, or project management) or equivalent experience
  • Professional accreditation such as PRINCE2, APM or CIOB (Practitioner level preferred)
  • Experience delivering major capital projects through all RIBA stages
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g. JCT, NEC) and procurement routes
  • The ability to manage budgets, track progress and mitigate project risks
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across departments, elected members and communities
  • Experience working in politically sensitive or high-profile environments
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage both people and consultants effectively
  • A collaborative approach with a focus on delivering outcomes that reflect local needs
