A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a Traveller Site Project Manager to join the housing department at one of Adecco's most improved local authority clients in a long term interim role (potentially up to 12 months).

Based near to Heathrow Airport in West London, this is a full time role (37 hours per week, Monday to Friday) and will report directly into our client's Housing Strategy and Inclusion Manager. Office attendance is hybrid (maximum 1-2 days a week).

In this role you will be required to undertake project work and operational management tasks associated with the Boroughs traveller site provision at two sites. With respect to one individual site this will involve contract managing the provider responsible for that site. With respect to the second site, this will involve the management of in house and external resources to establish a clear pathway for the site.

In addition, you will be required to initiate and undertake work to ensure that the Borough is complying with its statutory responsibilities with respect to both sites, and produce a traveller site strategy to ensure the longer-term management stability of both sites.

Other key elements of the role include:

  • Leading a reappraisal of the Boroughs traveller sites and to produce a strategic and operational plan for the future of this provision.
  • Establishing and managing a trading account for the Boroughs traveller site provision.
  • Conducting a review of the pitch agreements and charge and introducing any new arrangements across both sites.
  • Conducting a review of boundaries of the Boroughs traveller sites and producing an appropriate remedial plan of action.
  • Undertaking an assessment of the infrastructure of the Boroughs traveller site provision (including fire and other risk issues) and producing an appropriate remedial plan of action.
  • Contract managing the external resources and liaise with the internal resources used in the current management arrangements.
  • Maintaining a good knowledge of social housing policy and applying such knowledge to serve the best interests of the Borough.
  • Producing briefings as required for external and internal stakeholders.
  • Playing an active role within the Housing and Public Protection management team and assisting colleagues as required.

Previous experience of traveller site provision or similar would be ideal from our clients' perspective, as would experience of housing policy work within a local authority, registered provider, private or public sector consultancy, government agency or charitable body.

In addition, applicants with the ability to establish and manage a trading account in a local authority context would be highly desirable.

Only applicants who feel they meet the above criteria need apply.
