This is a hybrid role requiring regular site visits and hands-on coordination of inspections, remedial works, and compliance activity aligned with the latest fire safety and building safety legislation.You’ll be the lead professional on safety-focused capital works and ensure the council meets its obligations under the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and Golden Thread requirements.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of building and fire safety projects
  • Ensure compliance with fire, housing, and building safety legislation and council standards
  • Coordinate inspections, manage remedial works, and maintain accurate compliance records
  • Manage external consultants, contractors, and internal technical teams
  • Act as the primary point of contact for safety compliance and risk mitigation matters
  • Monitor project budgets, timelines, and deliverables related to building safety
  • Provide clear updates to senior management and regulatory stakeholders
  • Interpret technical reports, fire risk assessments, and safety case documentation
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Strong background managing building and fire safety compliance projects
  • Deep understanding of fire safety regulations, building safety legislation, and risk management principles
  • Proven ability to manage project delivery, stakeholders, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a collaborative, resident-focused approach
  • Proficient in project planning tools and compliance monitoring systems
Qualifications & Memberships:
  • Professional membership with CIOB, IFE, RICS, or equivalent
  • Degree or diploma in building surveying, construction, fire safety, or related discipline (desirable)
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD in building and fire safety
  • Understanding of fire risk assessments, safety case reports, and Golden Thread regulations
