Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure strict adherence to reporting and recording procedures for accidents and dangerous occurrences as required underRIDDOR, following guidance from theSHEQ Manager.
- Provide specialist advice onhealth, safety, and environmental policiesand ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
- Monitor health and safety standards applied by contractors, ensuring they meet contractual requirements and company policies.
- Ensure all site employees adhere to health and safety policies, procedures, and client requirements.
- Recommend disciplinary action where supervisory staff fail to meet safety responsibilities.
- Take appropriate action in cases ofsafety non-complianceon-site.
- Ensure asafe and healthy working environmentfor all personnel and visitors across operational sites and premises.
- Monitor the provision and effectiveness ofwelfare facilities.
- Promote and encourage thereporting of near missesto drive continuous improvement.
- Work across various project sites within the UK, as required by business needs.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as aSenior SHEQ Advisorwithinconstruction, utilities, or civil engineering, ideally within thepower sector.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effectivepeople managementand leadership abilities.
- A proactive approach with acontinuous improvement mindset.
- Excellentnegotiationandproblem-solvingskills.
- A tactful yet assertive manner with the ability to influence and challenge where necessary.
- Ability to deliverclear, confident, and engaging presentations.
- Strongorganisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- In-depth knowledge ofhealth & safety legislationand the ability to interpret relevant laws and regulations.
- Proficient inMicrosoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Experience inincident investigationand preparingdetailed reports, including root cause analysis (RCA).
- Ability to handleconfidential informationwith professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- NCRQ Level 6 / NVQ Level 6 / NEBOSH Diplomain Occupational Health & Safety.
- Previous experience in thepower utilities sector.
- Experience working withinlive substations.
- Familiarity withNERS Accreditationandmanagement systems.
- Experience working withDNOs and IDNOs.
- Auditing accreditation for ISOs 9001, 14001 and 45001 (desirable).
- Familiarity with the application of SHEQ in a CDM2015 context (desirable).
- EUSR or CSCS certificationin General Health & Safety.
- Strong report-writing skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence (required).
Location
- Office location:Borehamwood.
- Work will be based acrossvarious project sites along the M4 corridor from Slough to Swindonin thepower, commercial, and industrial sectors.
