Junior Contracts Manager / Contracts Associate

Location: North London (hybrid)

Sector: Water

Overview

An established contractor in the infrastructure and utilities sector is looking for a motivated Junior Contracts Manager to support the commercial and contractual delivery of major water projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in project delivery, quantity surveying, or contract administration who is looking to develop their expertise in contract management. Working closely with senior commercial and project leads, you’ll gain hands-on experience with NEC and IChemE forms of contract, supporting the team in managing project costs, risks, and client communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing and understanding main contract requirements, schedules, and procedures.
  • Support senior team members in preparing and maintaining contract documentation and records.
  • Help draft and issue contract correspondence, notices, and variations in line with NEC processes.
  • Contribute to the preparation of compensation event submissions and time or cost assessments.
  • Assist in managing subcontractor agreements and supporting the flow of project information.
  • Monitor key contractual deadlines and ensure actions are completed on time.
  • Support commercial reporting, audits, and risk assessments under guidance from senior managers.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a commercial, project coordination, or contract administration role within construction or utilities.
  • Basic understanding of NEC or IChemE contracts (training and mentoring will be provided).
  • Good IT skills including MS Office; familiarity with CEMAR is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and attention to detail.
  • A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced project environment.

Why Apply?

This role offers clear progression into a full Contracts Manager position, with ongoing training and mentoring from experienced industry professionals. You’ll gain exposure to large-scale water and infrastructure projects while developing a strong foundation in contract and commercial management.
