The Opportunity

We’re working with a prestigious global law firm looking to add a skilled Database Administrator to their technology function. In this role, you’ll take responsibility for managing and supporting enterprise-scale Microsoft SQL Server databases that underpin a wide range of legal, financial and operational systems. You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues across application development, infrastructure, data insights and business services, contributing to both day-to-day operations and long-term projects.

This is a hybrid role with 3 days a week in one of the firm’s offices (Central London location), offering a salary of £70,000 – £77,000 depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities & Tech Stack

  • Ensure the availability, performance, and security of enterprise SQL Server databases
  • Proactively monitor systems, implement backups and recovery processes, and optimise performance
  • Support integration and development using tools like T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Power BI
  • Maintain and develop utilities and scripts to support automation and standardisation
  • Contribute to strategic projects including upgrades, migrations and cloud adoption
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. finance systems, application support) to deliver effective solutions
  • Leverage experience with SQL Availability Groups, encryption, query tuning, and monitoring tools (e.g. Redgate)

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience managing large SQL Server environments in a structured, enterprise setting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for performance and reliability
  • Comfortable working across multiple business units and translating technical language into business impact
  • A collaborative mindset, you’ll be engaging regularly with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience within professional services, particularly legal or financial services, is desirable but not essential
