This is a hands-on, technically focused role where you'll be instrumental in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and insight-driven data architecture solutions aligned with the charity's strategic objectives.You'll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, contributing to high-impact data initiatives and ensuring data is structured and governed to maximise its value.Key Responsibilities
- Align data architecture with organisational strategy and business goals.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, analysts, and suppliers to define and translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Create and maintain data models (conceptual, logical, physical), data flows, and integration frameworks.
- Contribute to planning and delivery of data architecture projects in an agile context.
- Lead efforts to ensure data architecture policies, standards, and governance best practices are followed.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert in data architecture and governance.
- Promote modern approaches to data analytics, AI/ML enablement, and reusable data architecture components.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovation.
- Work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, improve, and evolve data platforms.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a Data Architect role.
- Strong expertise in data modelling, data integration, governance, and visualisation.
- Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, R, ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, and cloud platforms.
- Experience using data modelling tools (e.g. ERwin, ER/Studio).
- Familiarity with data protection and compliance principles (e.g. GDPR, DPA 2018).
- Understanding of API and file-based integration approaches.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks and using tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across teams.
Desirable Skills & Certifications
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake and integration tools like Informatica IICS.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. TOGAF, DAMA, CDMP, SnowPro, Salesforce Data Architect).
- Experience working with platforms such as Salesforce, Unit4 ERPx, or Iris Cascade.
- Previous experience in the not-for-profit or public sector domain.
