We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our client, who are a boutique London market broker. As a Data Engineer, you will play a vital role in developing scalable data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and enabling efficient data processing to support business intelligence and advanced analytics. You will also be involved in their Cloud migration project.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines.
  • Build and optimize data architectures, data lakes, and data warehouses.
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
  • Work closely with Insurance Brokers, Insurance Technicians, and the wider business to support their data needs.
  • Implement data quality checks, validation, and monitoring systems.
  • Ensure data security, compliance, and governance best practices.
  • Optimize database performance and query efficiency.
  • Automate data workflows and improve data processing efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools like Power BI.
  • Present findings and recommendations to business leaders in a clear and compelling manner.

Experience required:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years proven experience as a Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or in a similar role.
  • Must be from an insurance background.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
  • Experience with data workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Dagster).
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and transformation tools (e.g., dbt).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and data architecture principles.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
