  • We are at an important stage of its growth journey, with our strategic ambitions to expand globally having dependencies on mastery of our data and bringing it to bear to drive the target additional business value.
  • We are currently investing to expand our data capability. We want to perform some due diligence to help make sure we are scaling from a suitable base and our technology will continue to support the current and emerging business data needs.
  • Our data strategy is to empower our colleagues through the provision and use of data, plus tooling to uplift the services we provide to our end clients. With this in mind, we are pursuing a global hub-and-spoke model which contains the control and efficiency of a central system with the flexibility and individuality of a bespoke local capability.
  • This independent review will be a targeted exercise to assess the way the data technology estate has been established and is operating, with this view on go-forward efficient scalability.

Scope and Environment

  • The scope of the exercise will encompass our Group Data Lake (GDL), our Group reporting suite ('Accelerator'), our analytics capability, operations model and our ancillary technology data services such as Mastering and Enrichment.
  • We would expect this assessment to cover the major angles of any enterprise data capability at a high level, such as security, efficiency, future focus and enabling business value. Our vision is to become a more Data Product-oriented function and this will be in scope for readiness assessment.
  • Our in-scope technology stack centres on Microsoft Azure, Databricks and Reltio and we would need any review team to have deep expertise in successful implementation of this technology stack specifically. We would also include the general team capability and skills make-up, plus global delivery framework in the scope.
  • Out of scope will be our Data Governance, Quality, Policy and Standards and AI-related work.
  • We expect this to be a focused engagement utilising an expert team, with the core deliverable being the assessment and accompanying recommendations, including a digestible summary for Executive and Board consumption.
