INCOME OFFICER

UP TO £33,300 PRO RATA

SOUTH WEST LONDON

PERMANENT PART TIME – 21 HOURS PER WEEK

I am working with a charitable foundation to recruit an experienced and dedicated Income Officer to join a small but busy team. This role is responsible for managing accounting duties related to income, focusing on rent, service charges, and fundraised income. This role is crucial in ensuring financial accuracy and supporting tenants and fundraising efforts.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage and ensure accuracy in accounting tasks such as rent journals and tenant rent data entry into the rent accounting system.
  • Produce and distribute regular rent statements and KPI reports to alert about tenancy-related debts.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining rent accounts for new and existing residents within the housing software.
  • Liaise with Housing Benefit and Universal Credit departments to ensure timely payment of benefits and handle overpayment requests.
  • Reconcile annual rent and service charge increases and assist in the calculation and review of Service Charges.
  • Process all direct debits, standing orders, bank transfers, and card payments, ensuring accurate entries in the Housing database.
  • Record and reconcile fundraised income, ensuring compliance with Gift Aid requirements and HMRC regulations.
  • Provide regular reports on rent arrears and financial reconciliations to support effective debt management and financial control.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of best practices in income management and debt collection.
  • Good understanding of Housing and Welfare Benefits.
  • Experience in financial management within a housing context is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using financial and housing management software.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
