Role Objectives:
This pivotal role as Director of Marketing Uk& I for Hays, a leading Global Recruitment business, will lead performance marketing, strengthen brand awareness, and engage key customers-both clients and candidates-across the UK & Ireland, ensuring measurable business impact and directly contributing to growth.
Key Result Areas:
Drive ROI-Focused Performance Marketing
- Develop and execute data-driven strategies that deliver measurable outcomes across lead generation, conversion, and pipeline growth-for both client and candidate acquisition. * Achieve year-on-year improvements in key performance metrics such as cost-per-acquisition (CPA), marketing-attributed revenue, and customer (client and candidate) retention. * Collaborate with central and local teams to optimize campaigns across digital and traditional channels, leveraging analytics and insights to maximize ROI. * Lead a dedicated performance marketing function, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and excellence in execution.
Strengthening Customer Engagement & Revenue Impact
- Design and implement targeted, insight-led campaigns to deepen relationships with key customers, including enterprise clients and high-value candidates.
- Align marketing initiatives with sales goals to increase customer acquisition, retention, and revenue contribution in priority sectors.
- Measure success using engagement metrics such as client satisfaction scores, candidate NPS, upsell and reactivation rates, and repeat business growth.
- Oversee teams responsible for customer strategy and engagement channels, ensuring a cohesive approach to nurturing both audiences.
Build Brand Awareness with a Focus on Market Share
- Lead initiatives to enhance brand equity and visibility across the UK & Ireland, aiming to grow market share in key markets.
- Execute localized brand-building campaigns aligned with global strategies, while leveraging regional insights to maximize resonance.
- Monitor and improve brand performance metrics, including unaided brand recall, share of voice, and Net Promoter Scores (NPS) across both client and candidate segments.
Provide Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with global and regional stakeholders to align marketing efforts with Hays' broader business objectives.
- Lead and develop a high-performing, cross-functional marketing team spanning performance, customer strategy, engagement, and creativity.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration, setting and achieving ambitious KPIs for regional marketing performance.
- Continuously evaluate team structure, capabilities, and tools to ensure agility and effectiveness in a competitive market.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that marketing is integrated with commercial and operational priorities.
- Work closely with sales, operational, and executive leadership teams to align objectives and report on marketing's contribution to business success.
Knowledge, qualifications and experience
- Exceptional influencing skills and able to provide credible challenge at all levels of an organisation, up to and including Ex-co level stakeholders
- Proven track record of acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders
- A track record of being able to challenge the existing thinking and approaches where appropriate, driving colleague and commercial improvements through prioritised and pragmatic solutions
- Able to deliver in a fast paced, complex environment, communicating clearly and openly to win support
- Ability to think strategically allied with a practical approach to execution and creative flair
- Clear sense of ownership. Able to follow through tenaciously to resolve issues and drive change
- Experience in transforming or scaling marketing functions in complex organisations
- A commercial mindset, with the ability to connect marketing activity to fee growth and revenue outcomes
- Comfort in fast-paced, results-driven environments with shifting priorities
