MERJE is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance for a leading FinTech company. This crucial role involves implementing effective compliance functions, monitoring ethics efforts, and providing guidance to the Executive Committee and regulated Boards. The successful candidate will hold SMF16 and SMF17 functions, ensuring robust financial crime prevention.

The Role

The Head of Compliance position offers a unique opportunity to shape the compliance strategy of a cutting-edge FinTech company. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, this role involves leading a team, overseeing regulatory relations, and implementing effective compliance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities of the Head of Compliance:
  • Hold SMF 16 and 17 functions, leading the compliance and financial crime prevention team
  • Provide expert advice on regulatory matters to senior management and the Board
  • Manage relations with the FCA and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Develop and maintain compliance and financial crime prevention frameworks
  • Oversee the design and execution of risk-based compliance monitoring review plans
Required knowledge and experience for the Head of Compliance role:
  • Current or recent FCA SMF 16 and SMF 17 experience
  • Significant experience leading a compliance function in regulated financial services
  • Expert knowledge of FCA requirements and regulatory frameworks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Degree-level education with relevant technical qualifications
