Day to day you will be maintaining and operating the sewer network and its associated assets whilst carrying out basic mechanical maintenance and fault finding.  The work involves confined space access working in some of London’s most challenging Subterranean areas.What you’ll be doing as a Trunk Sewer Technician
  • Complete planned, emergency and defect maintenance of the trunk sewer network.
  • Physical maintenance of the sewer network and associated assets, e.g. penstock gates.
  • Operation of plant and equipment.
  • Cleaning, basic maintenance and fault-finding.
  • Please note, for this role will be mandatory to work in confined spaces, at heights, and lifting heavy loads; training will be provided.
Base location: Hammersmith (PS), W6 9RSWorking hours: 38 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 3:45 pm; with 1 week out of 5 on the night shift from 9:00 pm - 5:30 am; with opportunity to be included on standby rota, for which you will also receive an additional payment.What you should bring to the role
  • Previous experience in maintenance would be advantageous, and in particular, mechanical bias, with previous qualifications desirable.
  • You must be physically fit and prepared to work in a challenging environment daily, as you will complete manual handling activities to operate large mechanical assets and grounds maintenance.
  • Have a proactive approach to your work and demonstrate that you can work positively and effectively within a team environment.
  • You will need to be a keen and motivated team member, able to demonstrate initiative and a flexible approach to work.
  • A valid UK driving licence is ideal but not essential, and HGV training can be provided.
  • Willing to work on a shift pattern, with 1 week of nights in 5 and complete an out-of-hours call-out rota.
  • For health and safety reasons, you will be required to be clean-shaven in order to wear respiratory protective equipment (RPE) correctly.
