Job Title: Autism Teaching Assistant - SEN School
Location: Lambeth, South London
Start Date: Immediate
Salary: 110 - 120 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am - 3:30pm
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Are you an experienced or aspiring Autism Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs? A well-regarded SEN school in Lambeth is looking for a dedicated, patient, and enthusiastic individual to join their supportive team for an immediate start.



About the Role:

  • Support pupils aged 5-16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including non-verbal students and those with associated learning difficulties

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups to assist with academic, emotional, and social development

  • Use tailored strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables to support communication and learning (training can be provided)

  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and SENCOs to deliver an inclusive and structured learning environment

  • Assist with personal care and behaviour support where necessary



Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people with autism in a school or care setting

  • Calm, reliable, and resilient with a positive attitude

  • Knowledge of autism-specific strategies (PECS, TEACCH, Makaton) is advantageous

  • Comfortable with personal care and sensory support needs

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to apply for one
