We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Classroom Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Reception-aged pupil with autism at our welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southwark. This full-time position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact on a young child's early educational journey.
Key Responsibilities: Classroom Assistant
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support the learning and development of a Reception-aged pupil with autism
Deliver tailored support in line with the pupil's individual education plan (IEP)
Promote social, emotional, and communication development through structured play and consistent routines
Foster a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment
Assist with personal care if required
Essential Requirements: Classroom Assistant
Experience working in an Early Years setting
A genuine passion for supporting young children with autism and additional needs
Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to learning
Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team
Right to work in the UK
Desirable: Classroom Assistant
Relevant qualifications in childcare, education, or special educational needs (e.g. CACHE Level 3, NVQ, or equivalent)
Experience with PECS, Makaton, or other communication strategies is a plus
