Remedy is recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant with Makaton training or experience. This role involves working 1:1 with a pupil with speech, language, and communication needs. The pupil communicates using bespoke resources and Makaton signs, making Makaton experience an essential requirement for this role.

Makaton Teaching Assistant | Job Specification

  • Provide one-to-one learning support for a pupil with communication needs.
  • Assist with the development of individual education and behaviour plans, setting achievable goals for the pupil.
  • Build trusting relationships with the pupil and adapt your support to meet their individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENDCo and Class Teacher to ensure effective provision.
  • Encourage the pupil to engage in class activities and develop their communication skills.

Makaton Teaching Assistant | Person Specification

  • A good understanding of the EYFS or primary curriculum.
  • Makaton training and/or relevant experience supporting children with communication needs.
  • Experience working with children who have speech and language difficulties.
  • Outgoing, friendly, and engaging personality.
  • Willing to support children with varying abilities and needs.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards learning and development.
