A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Hammersmith is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities.

About the Role:As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a variety of special needs, including Autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties. You will be responsible for delivering tailored interventions, encouraging positive behaviour, and helping to create a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with SEND on a 1:1 or small group basis

  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of individualised learning programmes

  • Promoting inclusion and ensuring all pupils feel valued and supported

  • Collaborating with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals

  • Maintaining accurate records of student progress and behaviour

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND (in a school or similar setting)

  • A patient, calm, and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning)

  • Experience with Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods
