A local authority in London have asked me to find an Electrical Design Engineer for their inhouse design consultancy offering. Their design team is an in-house, fee-earning multi-disciplinary consultancy service covering a full range of MEP design, architecture and structural services.
Their project portfolio is diverse and consists of leisure centres, residential developments, libraries, schools and offices.
They offer a lot of flexibility and request that you attend their Head office (Zone 2, Central London) one day a week and they support flexible working times, with an option of starting anytime between 7am to 10am.

You will be provided an Oyster Card or Fuel Card.
The initial contract will be for 12 months, and you will be paid on a weekly basis.
Key duties
- Carrying out site inspections, producing reports and chairing meetings.
- Calculating and monitoring project costs and delivery timelines.
- Producing electrical design specifications and equipment schedules.
- Coordinating these designs with the other inhouse, engineers.
- Managing specialist contractors on site, carrying out a QA function.
- Enforcing construction and installation standards for electrical services.
- Ensuring projects comply with Building Regulation and British standards.
- Checking drawings in AutoCAD.
Key requirements
- Good overall knowledge of electrical design and installation methods.
- Detailed knowledge of building codes and British standards.
- Knowledge of JCT contract and local planning preferred.
- Able to attend site and client meetings across Zone 1 and Zone 2, Central London.
