Job Purpose

To provide electrical engineering support to ensure the effective operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and infrastructure across Chase Farm Hospital. This includes both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works, ensuring compliance with HTM standards and all relevant health & safety legislation.



Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance on all electrical systems and equipment, including but not limited to:

    • Lighting systems (internal and external)

    • Distribution boards and LV systems

    • Emergency lighting

    • Fire alarm systems

    • BMS controls

    • Generators and UPS systems

  • Diagnose electrical faults and perform repairs efficiently and safely.

  • Ensure compliance with current regulations (e.g., IEE Wiring Regulations, BS7671).

  • Maintain accurate records of all works carried out in line with statutory and organisational requirements.

  • Liaise with Estates Supervisors, Contractors, and Clinical staff to minimise disruption during works.

  • Participate in minor installation works including cabling, containment, and commissioning of new systems or modifications.

  • Undertake isolation procedures and issue permits where necessary.

  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in plant rooms and work areas.

  • Respond to emergency call-outs in accordance with rota (as required).

  • Contribute to energy efficiency initiatives and assist in sustainability goals.
