Role: Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading building services consultancy in London. This contract is outside IR35 and offers the chance to work on complex, high-profile developments.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience delivering hotel projects, proven ability to take ownership of designs, and a commitment to high-quality project delivery. This role is hybrid, with 4 days per week in the office.
Our client provides sustainable solutions across planning, engineering design, and project delivery within the property, infrastructure, environment, and energy sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specification of electrical building services systems, including power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, and lightning protection.
- Manage personal workload, updating forward plans regularly, and working to agreed timescales.
- Produce detailed calculations using industry-standard software (Excel, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and in-house tools).
- Review and check design work of team members and external designers, ensuring compliance with departmental procedures.
- Prepare conceptual designs to achieve safe, practical, and economical solutions in line with current standards.
Key Requirements
- Degree (or equivalent) in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Proven experience on complex projects, including Stage 5 delivery (preferred).
- Proficiency in digital tools such as Amtech/ProDesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, and Microsoft Office; HV tools advantageous.
- Awareness of building physics principles, including passive design and fabric-first approaches.
- Strong communication and supervisory skills, with experience leading others.
- Knowledge of current standards and ability to develop project requirements.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and driven to take on new challenges.
