Position: Field Service Engineer

Location: UK Travel involved (Ideally based Cambs, Northants, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Kent, London, Suffolk, Surrey, West Sussex, Essex, Herts, Bucks)

Salary: £28k - £34k + Commission + Vehicle

The Company: Gas Detection Manufacturer

Role:

  • This is a full-time, permanent position and following full training in their range of gas detection products at their manufacturing facility, this varied and interesting role will involve a fair amount of driving, covering a schedule of maintenance visits, including some overnight stays away from home when required.
  • Self-motivated and hardworking, you will be flexible in your approach, with sound analytical skills and committed to delivering high quality results to their customers in a timely manner.
  • Test and calibration of the company’s and other manufacturers’ equipment and commissioning of company equipment
  • Fault finding, diagnosis and repair of equipment
  • Replacement of components and parts
  • Full, written, technical reports and calibration certificates supporting the tasks listed above
  • Site surveys with completed documentation, including drawings where necessary
  • Recommendations and implementation of preventative maintenance
  • Recommendations for new or replacement equipment.
  • Generate a comprehensive quote request to enable the Sales Department to issue a quotation
  • Ensure stock levels of spare parts, gas cylinders and equipment required are maintained in service vehicle
  • Undertake internal and external training courses
  • Maintain service vehicle in a clean and tidy condition, arrange services and MOT as required
  • Adhere to company and customers’ on-site procedures

Requirements:

  • Technical experience in electronics instrumentation
  • Minimum of Maths & English GCSE (Grade C) or equivalent
  • Flexible approach to work hours
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Must be prepared to undertake an Enhanced DBS Check
  • Demonstrated ability to learn technical products/processes to a high standard
  • Experience within the gas detection industry or closely related discipline e.g., a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 2 years customer service/support role in a Field Service capacity
