Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Carrying out pre-planned and reactive maintenance work on PLC controlled equipment, HV/LV systems, motors, pneumatic systems and variable speed drives
- Completing routine inspections and undertaking preventative maintenance work as part of preventative maintenance management, to ensure equipment is consistently in good condition.
- Assisting the Electrical Supervisor with outage planning, scheduling and coordination
- Ensuring maintenance work is properly recorded on the site CMMS
- To liaise with outside contractors on specific repairs / maintenance work
- Carrying out all activities with the highest regard for health and safety
Please note: This role will be working shifts with a combination of 12 hour and 9 hour shifts.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- A time served apprenticeship with an HNC in electrical/electronic engineering, measurement & control or similar.
- A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH will be advantageous but not a necessity
Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge
The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician role would suit someone who has:
- Prior electrical/instrumentation maintenance experience in a heavy process environment such as a power station, refinery, chemical plant, paper mill, FMCG etc
- Experience maintaining and fault finding on motors, variable speed drives, switchgear and HV/LV systems
- Experience maintaining instrumentation equipment such as pressure sensors, thermocouples, flow metres, CEMS, etc.
- A flexible approach to working routines as this is shift work
