JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Housing Tutor
Role Status: Full-time
Reports To: Operations Manager

Salary: 35,000 - 40,000 dependant on experience

Location: Remote

Function Accountability

  • Plan, deliver and adapt high-quality teaching
  • Facilitate teaching and learning for Functional Skills
  • Provide effective Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG/CIAG)
  • Promote and embed Safeguarding, Prevent, British Values, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, and Health & Safety

Primary Purpose and Objectives

The primary purpose of this role is to guide and support a caseload of apprentices and learners through their learning journey, delivering a structured curriculum while adapting to individual and employer needs.

Key objectives include:

  • Supporting effective e-portfolio use
  • Embedding English and maths Functional Skills early in the programme
  • Conducting progress reviews with learners and employers
  • Delivering high-quality IAG/CIAG

Key Responsibilities

Teaching, Learning and Assessment

  • Manage a caseload of learners completing housing-related apprenticeships and/or Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) qualifications
  • Deliver engaging, structured and high-quality teaching sessions both virtually and face-to-face
  • Use initial assessment outcomes to plan differentiated learning activities
  • Deliver Functional Skills (English and maths) where applicable and contextualise learning to the housing sector
  • Assess learner evidence and provide clear, developmental feedback
  • Embed Safeguarding, Prevent, British Values, EDI and Health & Safety across the curriculum

Learner Support

  • Conduct progress reviews with learners and employers to monitor achievement and identify support needs
  • Recognise and address barriers to learning, referring to learning support or safeguarding teams when needed
  • Provide ongoing IAG/CIAG to support learner confidence, development and career progression

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Participate in internal and external quality assurance processes, including observations and audits
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement in line with funding and audit requirements
  • Stay current with sector developments, including CIH updates and changes to apprenticeship standards

Essential and Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Assessor qualification (e.g., TAQA, CAVA)
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, AET or equivalent)
  • Strong occupational background in the Social Housing sector
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with learners and employers
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and maths (or equivalent)
  • Comfortable working remotely and able to travel to employer sites as required

Desirable

  • CIH Level 4/5 Diploma in Housing or relevant vocational qualification at Level 3+
  • Experience delivering Functional Skills up to Level 2
  • Experience delivering apprenticeships or professional housing qualifications
  • Knowledge of ESFA funding rules and the Education Inspection Framework (EIF)
