Transition and Employment Mentor

We are excited to offer a unique role as a Transition and Employment Mentor, developed in partnership with the London Borough. This position is part of a pilot project funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, aimed at supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The mentor will assist students aged 16 and above in transitioning from our Trust Schools into further training or permanent paid employment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Act as a keyworker for a caseload of students and their families, serving as a single point of contact.
  • Work closely with students to help them overcome barriers to employment and achieve their vocational goals through assessment, guidance, and advocacy.
  • Provide training and workshops to students and their support networks to enhance understanding and coping skills.
  • Engage with local employers and other organisations to raise awareness and ensure they understand the needs of our young people.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Generate reports and statistics to track the program's effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Two days a week will be dedicated to supporting students transitioning and focusing on attendance, achievement, and wellbeing.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and active listening skills.
  • Resilient and solution-focused, able to work constructively on own initiative and within a team.
  • Experience in engaging with local employers and stakeholders.
  • Car driver with access to a car is essential.
  • Ability to research and acquire relevant information for families.
  • Must maintain professional boundaries and relationships.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS disclosure, rechecked every 3 years.
