Are you an experienced Environmental Manager seeking an exciting new role with major projects in the construction sector? Passionate about driving environmental sustainability and innovation on-site?

A leading Principal Contractor is recruiting for an Environment Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover). The role is site-based, leading a regional team across the South from Cambridge to Brighton, including key London projects, and working closely with clients to ensure high environmental standards.

Responsibilities for the Environment Manager will include:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of Environmental Advisors across multiple high-profile projects in sectors such as energy, defence, rail, and healthcare
  • Working with clients and delivery teams to embed sustainability best practices and ensure compliance with ISO14001 and ISO50001 standards
  • Conducting regular site visits and audits to identify risks, drive innovation, and enhance environmental performance from pre-construction through to completion
  • Supporting incident investigations and delivering workshops to upskill teams
  • Reporting on trends, performance, and risks while ensuring stakeholder engagement and regulatory approvals are effectively managed

The successful Environment Manager will have:

  • Strong experience managing environmental performance on large-scale construction projects
  • Technical expertise in ISO14001/50001, sustainability assessments (BREEAM, LEED), and relevant environmental legislation
  • A degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability or related discipline, with IEMA or similar professional membership preferred
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coach teams and manage changing project needs
