We're delighted to be supporting a top-tier environmental consultancy in their search for a seasoned Principal Air Quality Consultant to strengthen and expand their UK air quality division.

This is a standout opportunity for an experienced, commercially focused specialist to step into a senior strategic position-bringing together technical expertise, business development, and team leadership within a progressive and collaborative organisation.



The Position

As Principal Air Quality Consultant, you will take responsibility for overseeing and delivering complex air quality and dispersion modelling assignments throughout the UK. You'll influence project direction, cultivate client relationships, and help drive wider business growth. Working with clients, regulators, and planning bodies, you'll provide robust, influential technical solutions while supporting and developing a growing team of consultants.



Key Duties

  • Lead and coordinate major air quality and dispersion modelling projects

  • Provide advanced technical contributions to EIAs and wider environmental assessments

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying and securing new opportunities

  • Prepare high-quality proposals, tenders, and commercial strategies

  • Mentor, guide, and support junior and mid-level consultants

  • Collaborate effectively with regulators, planning authorities, and multi-disciplinary teams



Your Profile

  • At least 8 years' experience in air quality consultancy or a comparable regulatory environment

  • Strong working knowledge of ADMS, AERMOD, and IAQM/EPUK guidance

  • Demonstrable experience in business development and ongoing client management

  • Confident leadership skills with experience developing and guiding teams

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Chemistry or similar discipline

  • Chartered status (CEnv / IAQM) is an advantage

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and commercial skills
