About the Role:The Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking an experienced Senior Events Officer to lead the planning and delivery of a busy and diverse programme of cultural, corporate, commercial and community events. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering events that enrich our communities and support the borough's Culture Strategy.
You'll be working at the heart of a creative and collaborative Events and Culture team, managing everything from major public celebrations to bespoke corporate functions, while supporting commercial growth and ensuring best practice in safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:-
Lead the delivery of council-led cultural and corporate events - from concept to completion

Manage third-party event applications and oversee approvals

Apply health and safety standards (IOSH or equivalent required) across all events

Drive income-generating opportunities through commercial events

Act as primary liaison with internal departments, emergency services, and external stakeholders

Represent the Council at Safety Advisory Group meetings and other key forums

Provide on-site event leadership, including weekends and evenings as required

Coordinate volunteers, apprentices, and ensure effective resource management

Maintain project budgets and procurement in line with Council regulations

Promote equality, inclusion, and the Council's values in all aspects of delivery
You will be a confident and capable event manager, ideally with local authority or public sector experience, and strong knowledge of public event licensing and logistics. You'll be politically astute, highly organised, and passionate about delivering high-quality and safe public experiences.
