Description
The Catering Manager will be responsible for overseeing the bar and catering operations at The Galley in CA House, including casual dining/drinking, club events run by members and private events. The role involves taking an active role in the day-today running of The Galley operation including seminars and events. This includes menu planning, managing staff, delivering outstanding customer service, and managing resources effectively to maximise revenue and profit.
Responsibilities
- Lead the overall operations, managing venue setup, coordination between front-of-house and kitchen, ensuring these run smoothly and successfully including troubleshooting on the day.
- Oversee service delivery and customer satisfaction, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, hospitality, and promptly resolving any issues or complaints.
- Plan and execute private functions and events, from menu development and staffing to room layouts, serving, and cleaningensuring all logistics run smoothly and to CA quality standards.
- Liaise with the Events Administrator to coordinate events.
- Recruit, train, schedule and supervise catering staff, including volunteers and part-time assistants, maintaining excellent communication and team performance.
- Manage procurement and stock control: monitor inventory, order food and beverage supplies, manage budgets, and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, health and safety standards and the Licensing Act, strictly adhering to legal and organisational requirements.
- Maintain administrative records, including financial tracking, rotas, stock levels, invoices and event documentation.
- Liaise with suppliers, clients (members or event organisers), and other CA House team members, handling contracts, negotiations, and ensuring expectations are met.
- Identify opportunities for growth, including developing new events, themed evenings, and services that enhance member experience and generate additional revenue streams.
- Set and review pricing strategies for food, beverages, and event packages, balancing competitiveness, member value, and profitability.
Qualifications and requirements
- You will have hospitality/food & beverage experience at a supervisory or managerial level for 2+ years, preferably with previous bar experience and experience of working on events.
- Possess excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Be organised, proactive, and able to work well under pressure.
- Hold relevant qualifications in food safety and kitchen or hospitality management.
- You must hold the right to work in the UK.

A team of 6-8 catering assistants who deliver bar and food services.
Hours
Permanent, full-time position
40 hours, in 5 over 7 days per week (this role involves working evenings, weekends and bank holidays)
Salary and Benefits
Circa £40,000 plus competitive package
